What does the bible say about kissing

There is one reference to kissing an idol (Hosea 13:2). Righteousness and Peace once shared a kiss (Psalm 85:10). You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.


First, some types of kisses are acceptable and even expected. And we kiss our family members as a normal expression of affection. In many cultures and countries, kissing is a common form of greeting among friends.

So clearly, kissing is not always a sin. The time to make decisions about physical contact is before you get in a touchy situation. A kiss between a man and a woman implies ownership in a sexual way that is beautiful and powerful. And the answer boils down to what is in your heart at the time. However, the bible does not say that kissing before marriage is sinful.


And I’m inclined to think that if pressing lips with your partner always makes you want to go all the way…you may have some self-control issues you need to bring before the Lord! Paul tells Christians to greet each other (male or female, presumably) with a holy kiss. In a day and age where kissing is the norm for elementary schoolers and losing your virginity in, or by high school is expecte it seems absurd and ridiculous that anyone would possibly save their first kiss for marriage. What does the bible say about cuddling? We often try to convince ourselves to go against God by doing small things. Kissing is totally the norm.


While cuddling in itself isn’t a sin it’s not something we should be doing. While there are no degrees of sin the Word seems to put a heavy emphasis on sexual propriety. In the Greek, we’re talking about two different kinds of loves. In each instance, the Greek words denote a kiss which is sacred—physically pure and morally blameless.


It was a common custom in most nations for people to kiss each other at meeting or parting to display their love, sincere affection, and friendship for each other. In fact the feelings of enjoyment from kissing might even cause you to be able to judge less clearly as to whether it is love or not. What is the acceptable dating kiss ?
