Tagalog language

Tagalog refers to a people and to their language. This is because that is what the law says and that is what is taught in the educational system. It is most closely related to Bicol and the Bisayan (Visayan) languages—Cebuano, Hiligaynon (Ilongo), and Samar. It functions as its lingua franca and de fcto national working language of the country.

Our national language was based from Tagalog. It has its roots in Spanish and English. Besides the Philippines, about other countries have a minority population of immigrants who speak Tagalog. More than twenty-two million people speak it as their first language.
