Bar San Calisto ( Piazza di San Calisto , 3) is one of Trastevere’s oldest, best-known, and certainly most beloved bars. Close to Stazione Trastevere (so not in the old part of the neighbor), La Tavernaccia da Bruno (Via Giovanni da Castel Bolognese , 63) is really one of the best restaurants in the area.

It is away from the crowds but very popular so make sure you book ahead to get a table. Here are some of my favourite restaurants in Trastevere from my semester studying abroad in Rome.

For some of the cheapest beer in Rome, go to buzzing Bar San Calisto on Piazza di San Calisto and soak up the vibrant atmosphere on the terrace with a €1. It’s a great spot to end your perfect day in Trastevere. The aperitivo is excellent, arguably one of the best in town: pasta, lasagna, pizza, hot dogs and fried snacks galore all to be enjoyed with their delicious cocktails and wine list. This cool bar lies in the industrial Ostiense neighborhood in the south of Rome and has one of the best aperitivos in the city if you make it there early. You won’t want to miss the array of dishes, ranging from pastas and succulently-prepared vegetables to rices and grains of all types.
