After her husbands untimely passing, a religious mother becomes negatively obsessed with her gay son and his lifestyle. But this British production, starring Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman, takes a wide berth around the kind of button-pushing found in Ghost.

Especially during that time just after lunch and before picking the kids up from school, the mouth-watering descriptions freed my imagination, transporting me to Corfu. The twists and turns that are wound seamlessly through the storyline kept me turning page after page. She shows how guilt can expose the fault lines in the most seemingly strong relationships, how what we don’t say can be more powerful than what we do, and how sometimes it is the most innocent of moments that can do the greatest harm.
